We desperately need more foster homes. We are being forced to turn away pyrs in dire need of rescue & medical care each week because we have no room. Please consider fostering a healthy pyr so that we have room for dogs in need of specialized care in our foster homes that are equipped to deal with sick/injured dogs.

The family of recently adopted pyrs Flower and Bob sent us the following photos from a picnic this past Saturday at Taylor Park in Largo, FL. A Boy Scout troop from St. Paul UMC had the picnic for their St. Paul Handicapable Ministry. Bob's family tells us: "Big Bob" was a big hit and was loved by all. He is so lovable and adorable. He showered us all with his love!"

Barron came into rescue as part of a cruelty case. Despite a rough start in life, he loves to play with the other dogs, and romps with his new pyr cohorts at his foster home. He has learned there are nice people, although he is still a little shy. Barron seems safe with small animals, and ignores the cats he has encountered in rescue. Club members often get together for "Pyr Walks." This is a member of Thor's (a recent adoptee) family walking Susie, one of our foster dogs in rescue. Susie had never met him before, but was wonderfully gentle and walking nicely as can be. We recently got word that Thor's family has decided to foster a pyr to provide him some company. Every new foster home means we are able to help more needy pyrs. Thank you Thor and family! |

Baby Belle's adopted family shared the following:
"Annabelle is doing wonderfully. She acts like she has always lived here. She and Sam race around the yard all morning and she sleeps right next to him. Sometimes she tries to fit in his bed with him and he looks bewildered, but doesn't seem to mind. I can already walk them both together, she's such a quick learner! ... Thank You! We all love her so much! "

We'd like to thank Stacey of Gracie's Bone Apetit of inviting our club last Saturday to her open house. Terry Stephanick and Carolyn Moore took two foster dogs, Harry and Bobcat, out to the event. We have already received an adoption application for Bobcat who, I believe, has been in rescue for about eight months. The potential adopters are also interested in getting involved with the club's rescue efforts and help where possible. Stacey will be speaking at our May 9th picnic on the topics of organic dog food and shampoo.

The Club had another success event on Saturday June 13th. Thanks go out to all of our volunteers at the Pet Health Fair in Largo.
Photos from the fair were provided by Horton and Rene, who adopted Flower a few months back. Flower's family have learned what so many us have found out about these wonderful dogs... it is hard to have just one! Flower has a new pyr pal, Bob, who was adopted by Horton and Rene at the fair.

Thanks to everyone that joined us for the SPCA Dog Walk in Lakeland in April. We had lots of attention from prospective adopters and dog lovers. This is an excellent way to share knowledge about our wonderful breed, as well as enjoy hanging out with other Pyr lovers! The SPCA sent us a thank you for the excellent participation and have invited us back next year. The highlight of this event is that we had a successful adoption of Samson. He is happily in his forever home, loving life." Click the Read More link for more photos from this successful event.
