Working the Room

V.A. Yesterday. I walk and talk, Cody “struts”
as we walk to each room. Of course

He stopped at the nurses’ station for the special
treats that ****** buys for him~~She blames me for the fact that she
now has a Great Pyrenees that she rescued. As She said “ I had
never even heard of the breed until you showed up, it’s all your
fault.” We stop in the Dayroom , ******* is there, He laughs
and reaches for Cody, ignoring the T.V. for the moment. I speak to my
friend sitting there with him, actually she is a friend of a
friend, we found out that we know the same person, a breeder of
Great Pyrenees.

We then start down the hallway, peeking in
doors, some of the soldiers are taking a nap, some call to us as we
enter the room.We walk , turn the corner, call to ******, he
answered, we go in. One of my favorites , he is sitting there on the
edge of the bed, looking good, I find out that He was in WW 2~~We
talk, we share, we pass the time. Time is just about all many of
them have now, and it drags slow.

On down the hall we go~~more pats, more
smiles~Kirk is doing well~~watching his TV hugging his pillow~Cody
gets to meet a little Yorkshire Terrier that stays in the room with
her soldier. Cute dog, but Cody looked and acted a bit puzzled at her
size, finally ignored her.

We walk past a room, the soldier is asleep, We
then see that He has visitors, many visitors in the room, sitting on
couches and chairs, some standing. They spot Cody, the usual ewwwww’s
& awwwwwww’s ( we’ve all experienced this before with our
boys/girls )~~~

Cody and I walk in, I drop the leash~~Cody looks
at the sleeping Vet. Realizes that He is not needed there, so goes to
the first visitor in line, a slight waggy tail, then to the next one,
a short visit, then on to the next, and so on until He had greeted
all the ones there. As he turned back to me, one of the visitors has
to take his picture, and his remark was “now , there is a dog that
knows how to work a room “~~~
