Noelle is a 6 year old spayed female Great Pyrenees who acts like a 3 or 4 year old. She is sweet and playful, and despite the hard times she has been through in her life she has a lot of love to give. She was taken from a neglect situation by Animal Control in December 2014, and we became her foster parents right after that. When she first came to us she had lost at least 50% of her hair and had a severe skin infection. We have worked hard to get her to the much improved state she is in today, with several months of medications, baths 2-3 x per week, and lots of TLC. Now she is ready to find her forever home.
Noelle enjoys playing with our Great Pyrenees Oberon and tries to get our smaller dogs to play with her as well. She is a little too excited by the cats however, and likes to chase them, so she should probably to go a cat free home. She is shy around new people and new situations, and is very nervous if approached by someone carrying an object in their hands, perhaps because she was beaten in her former life. She loves to be outside, and would probably enjoy gentle older children. She enjoys relocating her stuffed animal toys around the house, perhaps because she had puppies in the past. She is learning to trust people again, so needs a gentle hand to continue that journey.
Noelle is a special needs pyr, and will need to be on medication daily for the rest of her life. She probably lost her hair due to her allergies, and needs to be on allergy medication (Apoquel) and a fish oil supplement daily. She also has a “trick knee” or a luxating patella which we have been able to keep from bothering her by keeping her on a glucosamine supplement. Her medications will cost about $2.00 per day. She also needs bath every 1-2 weeks.
