A Sad Day for Pyrs PDF Print E-mail

General-Rainbow BridgeRight on the heels of the good news about several adoptions, we got some very sad news. Sympathies go out to Terry Stephanick and David Sandlak. Terry lost her pyr Summit. Losing one of the family is always hard. In honor of all beloved furry friends that have crossed the rainbow bridge, members can add photos of their own lost friend to the Memorial Wall.

Breakthrough for puppies PDF Print E-mail

Two Pyrenees puppies at the Rescue Chairperson's home that just been rescued last week; feces/urine stains/eye infections ears gummed up eyes, ears, etc.

And so we get busy; groom, clean, trim the first dogs in residence, then bring the recently rescued puppy out with the least amount of coat. We have to practically drag Him. He trusts no one; eyes averted, He won't even look at us. We lift Him on the grooming table (not a problem at all, there's not any weight on His bones). We start on what coat He has; most all of the filth has to be cut out. We clean His ears, we trim His feet and toenails.

Not a peep from this boy, eyes are staring at the ground the entire time....

Maidens at the Fair PDF Print E-mail
RenFaire-JoyceAndJulietFrom a Club member: Jen and I took Miss Juliet to the Renaissance Faire yesterday, and our little lady was the absolute hit of the Faire!  As soon as we entered, a group of lovely maidens surrounded her, and it was like that all day long ~ everyone loved her and wanted to pet her.  Of course, she was perfectly sweet all day, and it was a wonderful opportunity to educate the public about the Great Pyrenees breed.

Dog Update: 9/26 - Come join Florida Great Pyrenees Club and Quaker Steak and Lube for the first annual "Red Hot Rescue Chili Cook Off" at Quaker Steak and Lube, 10400 49th St N, Clearwater, FL from  12 to 4 pm

Local dog rescue groups compete for "Best Rescue Chili Cook" in Tampa Bay.

Check out our event in The New Barker, official magazine of the chili cook-off.

Meet your new best furry friend.
Rescue groups and vendors Galore.
Lots of silent auction and raffle goodies!
Great food and frosty beverages.

Live music will be provided by Screaming Donkey.

Dog Update: 9/25 - The furballs and people of the Florida Great Pyrenees Club would like to say "THANK YOU" to Lori Fricker, Cindy Isaacs, Mark and Kat Howard, Heather Bellerose and the ladies from Medicine River Animal Hospital for organizing such a wonderful fund-raising event. We raised close to $1500 for each group!

Riley and Cody did a grrrrreat job as our club's mascots for the day.

Another round of "tail wags" to the Pyr-fect employees of Ten Pin Lanes - our host for all the tail-wagging fun.

Special thanks to Dr. Green, Coleen and Alan Brown and Chantal who donated lots of amazing stuff for the auction and raffle.

Dog Update: 8/25 - Buddy (formerly known as Dakota) has been adopted!!  Soon he'll be a reading "Buddy" for pre-K kids!! Hooray Buddy!!
 
Dog Update: 08/22 - Stevee, Buttercup, Charlie, Cody and Dunkin have been adopted! Isn't that grrrreat news?? Congratulations on finding your furever homes!!
